If you’re purchasing a handgun, you will be asked by Qld Weapons Licensing for a Club Approval Letter verifying that:

You are a member of Southport Indoor Pistol Club.
The firearm being purchased is required for specific activities at the club, that being competitions or matches.

Competition or Event

The Weapons Act requires you to have a "Genuine Need" for the firearm. You will be asked as part of the PTA application "Please state the reason why the weapon is required and why the need cannot be satisfied in another way". Your answer to this must relate to a competition you wish to participate in, and the handgun you wish to acquire is for that specific competition. The competitions listed in this field are limited to authorised competitions based on the Calibre and Action you have selected.
